Crown Jewels of Poetic Life

'Tis a proclamation that seems obvious
tho' I admit I'm curious about the debate,
an unseemly inference thot obnoxious
heard as toxic words of hate.

Controverting the hobbling of the poor
smitten by a life's unwitting happenstance,
the same one's they call in time of war
to defend a national pretense.

A political dance with hopes of defeat
by militant capitalists w/money to bargain,
killing a generation of kids in the streets
to help win their war on poverty.

Unkept property in their estimation
void of freedom from dictatorial hatred,
tho' freed by the laws of emancipation
to live in freedom as patriots.

Sensing in the forages of our journey
an emerging urgency of truth's ill repute,
discerning the fiery hate still yet burning
whose evidence is without dispute!

Quickening our youth in peaceful protest
whose chants fall from the sky like black rain,
around the world even in the face of death
spreading the truth proud & plain!

#BlackLivesMatter

Loud & unchained in a country divisible
accompanied by our specters from the latter,
whose voices are amplified by the invisible
as we proclaim #BlackLivesMatter!
