All of life is summed up in a lion’s roar
screaming out loud for a moment in time,
and discovering what a lion is roaring for
transfixes the recesses of the mind.
For when life presents its injustices
there remains a pain unsustainable inside,
in my attempt to cling to what justice is
I never lose sight of my pride.
Whose diverse challenges of yesterday
are replete with the wisdom of tomorrow,
but a temporary defeat has led me astray
at today’s bereavement & sorrow.
Deep inside I chide my bitter utterances
words that cut at me from in the darkness,
and harkens to my internal sufferance’s
a silence that cuts with a sharpness.
A pain that yields my muffled moans
wherein I bemoan my inability to speak,
holding back my tears I mumble & groan
headed atop the mountain’s peak.
Where the mountain air is open & wide
& all outside stands ready to hear me roar,
the clouds will rally as my soul confides
in a place high above the sea floor.

Whose echoes reverberate time & again
‘round the bend I can still hear my bellows.
When lions roar it’s often heard in the wind
as prayers for peace unto the meadows.
