Crown Jewels of Poetic Laughter
Should you find in your struggle for self
your world has crowned you King for a day,
gaze humbly at a reflection of yourself
and look at the man you portray.
For it isn’t your friends, family or wife
whose final judgment upon you must pass,
the person that counts the most in your life
is staring back at you from the glass.
The familiar image within your mirror
sees you clear thru the window to your soul,
shedding light so you can see yourself clearer
handing back your self-control.
The world may give you love and praise
throwing scented flowers at your royal feet,
but you are a man who’s digging his grave
if with your reflections you disagree.
Fooling the masses thruout the years
hear them cheer as you accept your award,
but if you cower behind a reflection of fears
tears of sorrow are your final reward.
