"Justin's Smile"

When I think of my nephew Justin

the first thing I see is his great big smile,

thru his beard his dimples come bustin’

cheek to cheek with mouth open wide.

In his smile I see a future shining bright

nobly making his way from dawn ‘til dusk,

within his eyes I see the dawning light

of a young man doing what he must.

Always cheerful when I’d greet him

as if in his Jordan’s he could walk on air,

a hopeful smile that grants you freedom

knowing he'd always be there.

Bringer of peace to friends and friendly

and for his family there were hugs and dap,

he was peaceful even to unknown enemies

a secret to those who had his back.

And as his future still shines brightly

by the glimmers from the sand in the glass,

I see his brilliant smile daily and nightly

recalling the days that have passed.

Believing that I am forever empowered

for being in his presence was worth the while,

tho’ night and day, and even hour by hour

I cry when I remember Justin’s smile.
